A glassed-in street corner restaurant with a panoramic view, Aqua resembles an Australian international fusion cuisine, which is light, diverse and decidedly very popular. Specialties include dishes like tea smoked salmon, lime roasted Barbary duck and yellow fin tuna. This is a restaurant that dignifies its superb location, rather than just trying to live off it.

A Soho bar that merits a mention for its delicious tapas menu, which keeps the tables full with lunch and dinner guests. Dishes include grilled tortillas, black cod, and marinated chicken strips. Its chain-mail walls and mix of bar-style seating and comfortable couches make the ambience light and fresh but no lighter or fresher than the lovely Spanish-style delicacies.

Offspring of its popular parent in Sai Kung, this bright quasi-Matisse experiment in Australian fusion cuisine on Staunton Street is excellent value and has a wonderful choice for brunch or dinner. Good choices here are the delicious steaks and pasta as well as the grilled bugs, yabbies (crayfish) and ‘barbie’ fare.

Thai Basil Café Bar
Price: HK$200. Wine: HK$200
One of the most relaxed restaurants in the Pacific Place shopping complex, Thai Basil is also among the best. Not dogmatically Thai but deliciously so, this is a superb venue in which to people-watch, while sampling the exquisitely presented dishes, such as Thai green duck curry. This contemporary restaurant opens onto the Garden Court of the Pacific Place mall but is enclosed by metal and wooden barss. Dining places are bench-style, in a welcoming, restrained and chic atmosphere.
