Macau has its own airline, Air Macau (NX), which operates regional flights.

Other airlines serving the territory include Silk Air, Air China, Shangdong Airlines, EVA Airways, China Eastern Airlines, TransAsia Airways and Xiamen Airlines. Charter airlines operate from Japan.

Approximate flight times

Flights from Europe and North America are generally via Hong Kong.

Travelling from Hong Kong to London takes 14 hours.

International airports

Macau International Airport (MFM)

The airport is located 7 kilometres (5 miles) southeast of the city.

Airport facilities

Banks and bureaux de change, car hire, duty free shops and restaurants are available.

Buses run to the city and Macau-Hong Kong ferry terminal via major hotels with a journey time of 45 minutes and costs MOP 4-6.

Taxis into the city centre are also available for approximately MOP 40 with a travel time of 15 minutes.

An ExpressLink service is available, presenting fast and trouble-free transfers between the Macau and Hong Kong airports. Ferries depart approximately every 15 minutes with a journey time of 55 minutes. On arrival at Macau Ferry Terminal, passengers travel by a particular shuttle bus to the enclave’s airport. Travellers should allow roughly 1 hour between ferry arrival time in Macau and departure time from Macau International Airport.

Departure tax

Departure tax is charged at MOP 80 per person (MOP 50 per child aged 2 to 12) for destinations in China (PR), and MOP 130 (MOP 80 per child aged 2 to 12) for other destinations. Children under 2 are free, and transfer/transit passengers departing Macau within 24 hours are exempt from the charge. Payments must be given in local currency, and credit cards are not accepted.


East Asia Airlines and Helicopters Hong Kong Limited operate daily flights (every 30 minutes between 0930-2259hrs) between Hong Kong and Macau with a travel time of 16 minutes.

They cost HK$ 1,600 on weekdays and HK$ 1,700 at weekends and public holidays one way. Helicopters depart from the Macau Maritime and Heliport Terminal, located in the Outer Harbour.
