Indira Gandhi International Airport is 23km (14 miles)
southwest of central Delhi and is the main international gateway
to India. When flying to Indian destinations beyond Delhi
passengers should be aware that the domestic terminal at Palam
(tel: (011) 329-5126) is five kilometres (3.1 miles) away
from the international terminal.

Airport Facilities
These include foreign exchange (but no ATM), tourist information
counter, a bookshop, snack bars, a restaurant, duty-free shops,
and resting rooms. Car hire is available outside the customs
halls at both international and Domestic arrivals, however,
self-drive cars are not available at the airport, as self-drive
cars are not generally available in India.

There is a business center with office facilities including
telephones, fax, and photocopiers. Arrival/departure
tax
A Foreign Travel departure tax of Rs500 or Rs150 is
included in the price of the ticket.
Transport to the city
Although metered taxis are available outside the airport,
it's much easier to pre-book at one of the several taxi counters
in the arrivals area. Fares should be about Rs300-400 for
the 30-45-minute drive to central Delhi, although it is
more expensive in the evening. The Delhi Traffic Police
Pre-Paid Taxi Booth issues a ticket, which is then given
to the allocated driver instaed of a cash. Hotels and travel
agents can, by prior arrangement, organize airport transfer
by taxi, which shouldn't cost more than Rs500 in each direction.
