Outside the capital, services are very slow and limited. Airmail will normally take around ten days to reach Western Europe.

Post office hours: Monday-Saturday 9.00 am - 9.00 pm.


Main daily newspapers areSonyon Sinmun, Rodong Sinmun, Pyongyang Sinmun and Minju Choson.

The Pyongyang Times is published weekly in English, French and Spanish. There are also some monthly English-language magazines available.


Voice of America and BBC World Service can be received. The most recent can be found online as from time to time the frequencies change.


Services are available in every Pyongyang hotel.

Telephone - land line

  Country dialing code is 850.

  IDD telephone is available, even though there is a very rare internal network.

  Some Pyongyang hotels offer direct international calls, although it may be expensive.

Telephone - mobile

Limited GSM 900 network. SUNNET is the only network provider.
