Staying in Vientiane will normally cost you very little
- travellers are expected to pay from about $1.75 in the
country and from US$5 in the capital for a basic room. You will pay
from about $15 up to around $60 per night in a flashier tourist hotel. One meal will generally cost you not more than $2 - one cup of coffee is about 15c, one bowl
of rice noodles soup is about 50c to $1 and a litre of beer is about 70c.
If you want air conditioning, hot water and foreign food, you'll
