Notes
Muslim festivals are scheduled in accordance with local sightings
of diverse phases of the moon and the dates listed above are estimations.
During the lunar month of Ramadan preceding Eid al-Fitr, Muslims
fast during the day and feast in the evening, therefore regular
business patterns may be interrupted.
Many restaurants are closed by day and drinking in public is very
restricted. Some disruption may continue into Eid al-Fitr itself;
however, this is commonly not likely to affect islanders' lives.
Eid al-Fitr and Eid el-Kebir may last from 2 to 10 days, depending
upon each region. |
