The enjoyable and lively Pattaya
Wan Lai Festival or Songkran Flowing Day (Thai New
Year) is best known for its
uncontrolled
and
unlimited
public water-throwing
traditions, where everyone becomes soaking legally.
The fertile lands of the nearby provinces make for a pleasant fruit festival held in May.
The progressively popular Pattaya Marathon is held
yearly in July in 3 categories: Full Marathon
(42.195 kilometres) Half Marathon (21.10 kilometres) and Quarter Marathon (10.55
kilometres) and is open to everyone.
An outstanding event is the yearly Buffalo Races which is held
in October at Chonburi, located 40 kilometres north of
Pattaya.
In November, there are full of festivals in Pattaya including beauty contests, floral floats,
market stalls, sporting events, and a plethora of carnival-like activities, exhibitions,
cultural performances, plus a spectacular display of fireworks on
the beach.
The Loy Krathong Festival will be celebrated throughout Thailand
on the full moon night in November. Thai people and tourists will pay respect
to nature by floating banana-leaf "krathong" on the rivers and sea. |
