Travelling around Pattaya is most convenient by minibuses
(songthaews) that continually run the Beach Road and Pattaya 2 Road
in counterclockwise circuits. There are minibuses running to Naklua
and Jomtien areas. Fares are from 10-30 baht depending
on the distance and are paid when getting off.
Those who wish to be independent and explore Pattaya's countryside
and beaches at leisure, there are vehicle rental places
offering various types of motorcycles, jeeps
and cars.
Motorcycle rental is between B150
and B700 per day, relying on size of the bike. Always
wear a crash helmet.
A jeep rental from a beachfront vendor is about
B1,000 per day. Make sure if you have enough gasoline
in the tank to get to the nearest gas station, and see whether the brakes work. These beachfront hire vendors will ask
you to deposit your passport with them.
Bicycles are also available to be hired from beachfront vendors at
B100 per day, or about B20 per hour.
For those who prefer reputable vehicles with full
insurance cover, there are a great choice of car rental companies in Pattaya. Avis is located
at the Dusit Resort, in North Pattaya. Budget
Car and Truck Rental, and VIA
Rent-a Car are other leading names. With international standard services, these companies also provide special deals, tour ideas, maps and other attractions to make your
stay easier. For those who do not want to drive, the Image 5 Star
Taxi Company provides one way return trips around Pattaya
or hour by hour hire. They will pick you up at your condo or hotel with
their door to door service.
