Khao Pattaya (Khao Phra Baht)

You can enjoy panoramic views of Pattaya City and Pattaya Bay from its peak. A sacred Buddha image is situated on the hilltop.

Wat Yansangwararam

About 17km south of Pattaya, you can enjoy the serene atmosphere and let your soul quench its thirst. The place is ideal for picnic. Do not miss the Royal Chinese Temple and Museum, admission is 30 baht per person. Up from the temples, the monks have their huts in the forest and follow the steps of Buddha. Enjoy the views from the temple at the top of the hill (more than 200 steps!) and admire the huge (160 by 150 meters) golden Buddha image. Telephone: (038) 237642.

The Million years stone park & Pattaya crocodile farm

About 8km from Pattaya, the park houses a landscape of native Thai flora and an impressive bonsai garden, a wildlife zoo, crocodiles, and a pool containing giant catfish. Open daily 8.30 am to 6.00 pm. Telephone: (038) 249347-9.

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden

About 18km south of Pattaya lies a beautifully landscaped park, with orchid nursery, cactus garden and botanical gardens. There is a cultural centre displaying arts, traditional dance ceremonies and crafts of Thailand. The highlights are the elephant show and the mini-zoo. Pattaya Elephant Village

About 20 minutes drive from Pattaya. The village elephants display forestry skills, play football, re-enact the war elephant parade and also demonstrate how wild elephants were captured. Daily show. Elephant rides must be booked in advance: Telephone: (038) 428 645-8, 249 818, 249 853.

Snake farm

Quick-as-lightning cobras, huge pythons, deadly poisonous kraits - to mention a few. Open daily 8.00 am to 9.00 pm. Telephone: (038)730 608; (mobile: 01-945 2979; 01-624 0917).

Mini Siam

On Sukhumvit Road, Mini Siam is a miniature town with replicas of Thailand's historical and cultural wonders, displayed in a very spacious area, surrounded by natural sceneries. Open from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm. Telephone: (038) 421-628; 424-232.

Bottle Art Museum

Just past the Turkish Bath and Plaza Condotel. More than 300 beautiful miniatures bottles on display. Open daily from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm. Telephone/Fax: (038) 422 957.
