Air

Airlines serving Canberra include Qantas, Virgin Blue and Regional Express. British Airways, United Airlines and Singapore Airlines offer flights to Australia with connections through to Canberra.

Canberra International airport

Canberra International Airport (CBR) is not an international point of entry to Australia but is linked to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane by convenient connections.

Overseas visitors can book through 1 of the Airlines listed above, changing aircraft after arrival in Australia. The city centre is 8 kilometres (5 miles) from the airport. Transport into the city is available by bus, taxi or rental car (the travel time is 15 minutes).

Road

Coach

Major road links, which are used by coach services, connect Canberra to Sydney (the travel time is 4 hours and 15 minutes) and to Melbourne (the travel time is 7 hours and 30 minutes), thereby allowing access to all other parts of Australia.

All Australian and other tickets are relevant.Greyhound Pioneer and Murray’s operate regular daily services from Canberra to Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.

Bus

An internal bus network operates in the city of Canberra. Pre purchase day tickets and 10 journey multi tickets are accessible. There is a double decker City Sightseeing Bus linking main attractions in the city that visitors can board or depart from at any point.

Taxi

Radio controlled metered taxis are available at all hours of the day.

Rail

Through trains run from Canberra to Melbourne and Sydney, with connections to other States. Economy Austrailpass tickets apply on both local and interstate systems, however these must be purchased before travelling to Australia.
