Business Etiquette

Suits are a must when conducting business in well dressed Melbourne and all appointments should be arranged in advance.

Like much of Melbourne life, business is generally conducted over coffee. Drinks at a stylish bar or breakfast meetings are also favored, although long business lunches are a thing of the past.

Australian business people are very approachable, quite informal and quick to use 1st names. Academic or professional titles do not impress them, nor do over zealous sales presentations. Business cards are used.

General business hours are Monday to Friday, from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, however many executives work longer hours. If invited to someone’s home, a bottle of wine as a gift will almost always be acceptable.

The meeting facilities include 4 main conference rooms with syndicate rooms. All standard A/V and display equipment is available, together with video recording, data and rear screen projection facilities and computer modem connections.

It includes computer use, photocopying, fax, word processing, laundry, event coordination and conference planning. There are up to 3 dining areas accessible.

The accommodation includes 62 double rooms accommodating up to 160 people.

It is located on the grounds of Deakin University in Geelong, 1 hour from Melbourne CBD, at the Gateway to the Great Ocean Road.

The meeting facilities include 2 main rooms & 6 specialized syndicate rooms. The Centre is designed for up to 100 delegates.

It includes full planning & secretarial services. All conference and syndicate rooms include networked computer, OHP, laser printer, video, audio system / AMP / cassette / CD player, whiteboard, flip chart and black out facility.

There are 2 dining rooms accessible.

The accommodation includes 57 well appointed double rooms with en suites, including 30 twin share and 2 facilitator suites. All rooms have direct ethernet and Internet access.
