are in denominations of 50 cents and Bd $1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50 and
100.
Coins are in denominations of 1,
5, 10, 15 and 25 cents.
The United States Dollar is accepted as legal tender and has parity
with the Bahamian Dollar.
The Bahamian Dollar is tied to the United States Dollar.
Currency exchange
Currency exchange is available in banks and at
exchange bureaux and hotels. ATM's are available on the main islands
in airport terminals, at banks and casinos and at other convenient
locations.

Diners Club, American Express, MasterCard and Visa are widelyaccepted. Please check with your credit or debit
card company for details of merchant acceptability and other services
which may be available.
Travellers
cheques
To avoid additional exchange rate charges, travellers are advised
to take traveller's cheques in United States Dollars.

Currency restrictions
Permission is compulsory from the Central Bank of The Bahamas to
import local currency, which may be exported up to a maximum of
B $70. The export and import of foreign currency is unlimited.
Banking hours
Banks are generally open Monday to Thursday from 9.30 am to 3.00
pm, Fridays 9.30 am to 5.00 pm.
