The Watersports industry
is badly regulated. There have
been numerous fatal accidents and it is not advised to rent jet
skiis in New Providence and Paradise Island, unless experienced.
Water Sports
These are remarkably well catered for in The Bahamas,
parasailing, sailing, diving (the South Shore on New Providence

snorkelling, swimming and water skiing are all widely available.
The temperature of the sea seldom drops below 21
°C (70 °F), even in midwinter. Equipment
is available from hotels, shops and marinas. Surfing can be done
on Eleuthera and windsurfing on Grand Bahama and in Nassau. Sport

Ball Sports
Tennis, volleyball, baseball, squash, softball, basketball, soccer,
rugby, golf, American football and cricket are all popular. Brilliant

are host to major tournaments. Grand Bahama Island is the golf capital,
offering 5 world class courses, 2 being at Lucaya
Golf & Country Club. There are fitness centres and gyms which
are open to visitors on Nassau / Paradise Island and on Grand Bahama
Island. Great spa facilities and yoga tuition exist throughout the
