Air
According to the military action in Iraq, there is a high risk of
terrorism in Bahrain and caution is necessary.

The national airline which serves
Bahrain is Gulf Air (GF), and there are many other airlines serving Bahrain including
Air India, Kuwait Airways, British Airways, American Airlines,
Thai Airways International, Cathay Pacific, KLM, Qatar Airways,
Royal Bahrainian, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Turkish Airlines and
Yemenia Yemen Airways.

Bahrain International airport
Bahrain
International (BAH) (Muharraq) is 6.5 kilometres (4 miles) north
east of Manama. There are bus and taxi services running across the causeway to
the main island (the travel time is 15 minutes).
Airport facilities
There are banks and bureaux de
change, a prayer room, duty free shops, first aid, bars, restaurants,
snack bars, nursery, tourist information centre, post office, car hire (Budget,
Avis, Europcar and Hertz) and parking facilities.
Departure Tax
Departure tax is BD 3 or about US $8. Children below
2 years old and transit passengers not leaving the airport are
excused.
Sea
There are 3 major ports of entry for dhows and other
seafaring craft at Mina Salman, Mina Manama and Mina Muharraq. These
ports have an immediate and easy entry into Bahrain from all parts
of the world. Passenger ferries are provided between Iran and Bahrain
(the travel time is about 16 hours). A port tax of BD3 may apply.
Road
Drive time from Bahrain to Dhahran, Eastern Province of Saudi
Arabia, is about 90 minutes via
the King Fahad Causeway. A toll fee in the region of BD 2 is
payable by persons driving out of Bahrain. General Saudi Arabian
visa regulations apply.
Rail
The Hijaz Railway functions on the old Ottoman
track between Amman and Damascus (Syrian Arab Republic). |
