Dollar is the official currency in Barbados.
1 Barbados Dollar (Bd$) = 100 cents Notes
are in denominations of Bd $2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100.
Coins are in denominations of 1, 5, 10 and 25 cents,
and Bd $1.
The Barbados Dollar is tied to the United States Dollar.
Currency exchange
The best exchange rates are offered at commercial banks.
The island is served by the Barbados National Bank and a range of
at least 6 international banks, each with a main office in Bridgetown
and further branches in Holetown, Hastings, Speightstown and Worthing.
ATM's are accessible. Credit
& debit cards
Barclaycard, American Express, Carte Blanche, Diners Club, Eurocard,
MasterCard and Visa are accepted in the resorts, however cash
is preferred for customs duty payment. Discover
Card can be used in certain places. Please check with your credit
or debit card company for details of merchant acceptability and
other services that may be available. Travellers
cheques
Travellers cheques are accepted by all banks and most hotels. To
avoid additional exchange rate charges, travellers are advised to
take traveller's cheques in United States Dollars or Pounds Sterling.

The import of local currency is unlimited, subject
to declaration. The export of local currency is forbidden.
The export and import of foreign currency is limited to the amount
declared on arrival. Banking

Banks are generally open Monday to Thursday from 8.00 am to 3.00
pm, Friday 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. |
