Airways and Thai International Airways
fly to Phnom Penh from Bangkok. Vietnam Airlines
from Hanoi, Malaysia Airlines flies from Kuala
Lumpur, Aeroflot from Moscow,
Silkair from Singapore and Lao Aviation
from Vientiane. International
airports
Pochentong Airport (PNH)
is 5 miles or 8 kilometres from Phnom Penh.
There are Bus service
and taxis available to the city.
Drive time are about 15 and 10 minutes respectively. Taxi fares are about US$8.00
while motorbikes are US$1.00. For prearranged tours pick-up service
is usually available.
Airport facilities
include banks/bureaux de change, bars and shops, left luggage, post
office and light refreshments. Approximate
flight times
From London to Phnom Penh it is about 12 hours and 30 minutes
with a stopover in Bangkok. International
Departure tax
At Pochentong Airport, customers will be charged at US$20.00
on international departures. Cambodian
passports are levied US$15.00. Children less than 4 years
years old are free of charge.
Sea
The seaport at
Sihanoukville and the river port of Phnom Penh are reached by the Mekong
through Vietnam. The route is served by regular passenger ferries.
Rail/Road
The Thailand border is now open for overland access.
The main highway links the capital with the Vietnamese border.
The major border checkpoints are Bavet, Poipet, Kaam Samhar (Vietnam), Cham Yeam (Thailand) and Stung Treng
(Laos). |
