Travel
A wide variety of vessels sail the 60 kilometres (37 mile) distance
between Macau and Hong Kong, including:
jetfoils
jumbocats
turbocats
hover-ferries
catamarans
More than 100 scheduled sailings operate each way throughout the
day, while jetfoils operate round the clock. Passengers are recommended
to be at the terminals at least 30 minutes before the departure
time in order to complete immigration formalities, and there is
always a standby queue for a prior boat for passengers who appear
unexpectedly early.
Jetfoils depart every 15 minutes from 7.00 am and
every 30 minutes between 5.30 pm and 4.00 am with a travel time
of 55 minutes.
Turbocat services take one hour. Catamaran services
take 1 hour 10 minutes. For further details, please contact First

Tickets to Hong Kong can be purchased in Macau up to 7 days in advance.
For travel from Hong Kong to Macau, jetfoil and jumbocat tickets
can be purchased up to 28 days in advance. A computerised booking
system is available from Hong Kong MTR Travel Service Centres in
the MTR stations of Admiralty, Mongkok, Tsim Shat Sui, Central,
Causeway Bay, Tseun Wan and Kowloon Bay.

Diners Club, American Express, MasterCard and Visa

The baggage allowance is 10 kilograms per person
on the high-speed ferries and, in general, is restricted to hand-carried
items. Tour operators can arrange luggage-handling if required and
Porters are available for heavy luggage.
There are also turbojet and ferry services to Fu Yong ferry
terminal in Shenzhen, China with a travel time of 1 hour.
Car Travel
The crossing point into China is via the Barrier Gate
(Portas de Cerco) and is open 7.30 am to 12.00 am daily. Buses run
frequently to and from this point from 8.00 am to 6.30 pm with a
journey time of 2 hours 30 minutes. |
