Larnaca, Cyprus
May 24th, 2005

Pros: Great weather
Cons: None

Arrived in Cyprus with no sleep for 36 hours...Finished Dubai after a fun but very tiring day. Caught the plane to Cyprus after spending a nice time in the fantastic airport. Went to Vienna first, but was only transit to Cyprus so had to stay in airport for 4 hours (felt like 10!)...very boring airport....similar to Auck domestic....yawn...yawn.

However, we got our first taste of how expensive Europe is going to be. Approx $7NZ for a poxy Starbucks coffee...David calls it "weasel-piss".

Finally got on the plane to have a snooze as best you can on the plane.

Finally landed in sunny Cyprus with a lot of my relatives waiting to greet us. It was such a good sight to see familiar faces (well for me!). Turns out that I have honed my skills up as a translator for David know which is pretty cool. Each conversation is translated in English or Greek depending who is talking. David is writing all the new Greek words he is learing on a notepad. Best way to learn is to immerse yourself ina culture!

Then off to one of my Theo (uncle) Xeni & Thea Elle(aunty) in Larnaca for a coffee and bite to eat before heading off to Limassol. This is the city that my mum comes from.

We were going to stay first with my Theo Christaki & Thea Yannoulla & their vivacious 9 year old daughter Georgia....she reminds me a lot of Leonie at that age...just non-stop.

Their home in Limassol was an hours drive from Larnaca.

We are only in Cyprus for 7 days which will go quickly with a lot of archelogical sites to see. And of course to try and see as much family as possible.

We are glad for the rest after having spent such a busy time so far.

We realised that either we are following the sun, or it is following us. It has always been there to greet us at each country so far. We have been very lucky! Here it is Spring and the temp is between 26 - 35 at the moment.

Over and for now...we need sleep!
