(DKK) = 100 øre.
Notes are in denominations of DKR1000, 500, 200, 100 and 50. Coins
are in denominations of DKR20, 10, 5, 2 and 1, and 50 and 25 øre.
Currency exchange
ATMs are available throughout Denmark. Personal cheques cannot be
used by visitors in Denmark and some banks may refuse to exchange
large foreign bank notes. Credit
& debit cards American Express, MasterCard,
Diners Club and Visa are widely accepted,
as well as Eurocheque cards. Check with your credit
or debit card company for details of merchant acceptability and
other services available. Travellers
cheques
Travellers Cheques can be cashed by banks and hotels, and be used
at most restaurants and shops. To avoid additional exchange rate
charges, travellers are advised to take travellers cheques in Euros,
Pounds Sterling or US Dollars.
Currency restrictions
No limitations on the import of either local or foreign currencies,
although declarations should be made for very large amounts. Export
of local currency over DKr50,000 is allowed if it can be proved
that the amount was declared on import, or acquired by the conversion
of foreign currency. There is no limit on the export of foreign
currency, except from gold coins. Exchange
