Lyon-St-Exupéry Airport (formerly known as Lyon-Satolas) is France’s fastest growing airport in terms of passenger numbers. It is located 25km (15.5 miles) to the east of Lyon city centre. Lyon-St-Exupéry welcomes over 6 million passengers each year. More than 40 airlines regularly use the airport, flying to over 100 destinations, including over 38 international cities.

Transfer between Terminals

The two terminals are within walking distance. A free shuttle bus also links the two terminals and the long-stay car parks.

Major airlines

Air France (telephone number: (08) 0280 2802) is the national airline. Other carriers include Alitalia, British Airways, Continental Ailines, Delta Airlines, Easyjet, Lufthansa and SAS.

Airport facilities


Money and communications

Facilities include a bureau de change and a post office in the central building. There is also an automatic currency exchange machine within Terminal 1. ATMs can be found throughout the airport.

Eating and drinking

Bars are located in both of the terminals, and restaurants in the central building.

Shopping

Shopping includes a jewellers, clothes shops, a mobile telephone shop and a perfume shop and duty-free.

Luggage

Left-luggage is open 24 hours and is situated in the central hall, level 1.

Other facilities

Mother and baby rooms are available in the both terminals. There is a travel agent and chemist in the central building. A 24-hour medical centre is located on the ground floor of the central building.

Business facilities

The airport Business Centre (telephone number: (0)4 7222 8374) has 11 meeting rooms, accommodating between 2 and 80 delegates, all equipped with telephones and paperboards. It also offers audiovisual equipment, secretarial services (typing, interpreting, fax, photocopy and printing) and catering facilities. Minitel and Fax services are also available in the central hall.

Information and help desks

There are 3 help desks. The first is in Terminal 2, Departures 3, the second is in Terminal 1, Arrivals B, and the third is at the information point in the central hall.

Disabled Facilities

The airport has telephone kiosks which are accessible to wheelchair users and also has disabled toilets. Disabled passengers are advised to contact their airline directly for assistance with boarding prior to travel and report to the check-in desk on arrival. There is a set-down point in front of Terminal 1 and reserved spaces in front of the train station in car park P6, a discount on parking charges is possible on presentation of a valid disabled badge to the car park information desk located in the central building.

Driving Directions

The airport is located on the A432. It can be accessed from the A42 towards Geneva and the A43 towards Chambéry.

Car Parking


There are several parking options (telephone number: 0826 800 826). The underground car park P0 offers short-term parking with direct lift access to the terminals, P1 and P2 are short-term car parks for Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 respectively, and P5 and P6 are long-term car parks connected to the airport terminals by a free shuttle bus.

Car Hire

Car hire companies include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National/Citer and Sixt. Chauffeur driven cars can also be hired from Chabe-Verjat limousine service (telephone number: (0)4 7256 5181).

Transport to the city

Rail

Trains run from the airport’s TGV station and serve many French destinations, including Paris Gare de Lyon, Marseille and Montpellier (telephone number: (0)8 3635 3535).

Taxi

A taxi rank is located in front of Terminal 1. Taxi information is available from Taxi Aéroport (telephone number: (0)4 7855 3431).

Bus

The cheapest alternative to the city centre is the Satobus coach (telephone number: (04) 7268 7217), which operates Monday-Sunday 0600-2320 hrs, costing €8.20 for a single, or €14.60 return with a journey time of approx 45 minutes.

Airport hotels

Hotels within the airport grounds include the 4-star Sofitel (telephone number: (0)4 7223 3805) and the 2-star Hotel Kyriad (telephone number: (0)4 7223 9090). There is a free shuttle bus between the Kyriad Hotel and the terminals. The Sofitel can be reached directly from the central building, level 1.
