Aéroports de Paris – ADP is responsible for the two major airports in Paris: Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly.

The city’s main airport is located 23km (14 miles) northeast of the city.

Air France coaches and RER line B (see below) link Charles de Gaulle airport to Orly airport (journey time – approximately 50 minutes)

Airport News

Terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle Airport has been closed until further notice following the collapse of a section of the roof. All flights that would normally use Terminal 2E have been diverted to other terminals at the airport. Passengers should contact their airline or travel agents to check the latest position. There is currently minimal disruption to flights at the airport as a result of the closure of Terminal 2E.

Major airlines

France’s national carrier is Air France (telephone number: (0820) 320 820 (within France) or (01) 4299 2101 (outside France). Other airlines include Air Canada, Alitalia, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and US Airways.

Money and communications

There are bureaux de change and at least one ATM in all three terminals. Post offices can be found in Terminals 1 and 2.

Eating and drinking

There are plenty of bars and restaurants in all terminals.

Shopping

There is a wide choice of shops in all three terminals.

Luggage

Lockers are no longer available due to security concerns. There is a lost and found office in Terminal 1 (telephone number: (0)1 4862 1334) and Terminal 2 (telephone number: (0)1 4816 63 83).

Other facilities

Prayer rooms are located in all three terminals. Medical services, including vaccinations, are available in Terminals 1 and 2.

Disabled Facilities

The airport has excellent facilities for disabled passengers, who should inform their airline in advance of their special needs. Information desks also offer a special welcome service for disabled passengers. Reserved car parking spaces in designated areas and discount on parking is available on presentation of a valid disability badge.

Business facilities

Roissy Charles de Gaulle 1 Business Centre (telephone number: (0)1 4862 2290) in Terminal 1 has eight fully equipped meeting rooms, 3 offices and a VIP lounge with phone, fax, photocopying and video services, the maximum capacity is 15 delegates. Terminal 2 has two lounges offering business facilities, including wireless broadband Internet access and a third lounge will open during 2005.

Driving Directions

From Paris, take the A1 via Porte de la Chapelle. Alternatively, take the A3 via Porte de Bagnolet, join the A1 and follow signposts for the airport.

Car Parking

Each terminal has its own covered car park with direct access to the terminal by a lift. The long-term car park PR is for Terminal 1, and car park PX is for Terminals 2 and 3 all are linked by a free airport shuttle bus.

Car Hire

Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt are all represented.

Transport to the city

Rail

The RER line B (telephone number: (08) 9268 7714) runs every 8 minutes daily 0456 hrs - 0014 hrs, departing from the TGV station of CDG 2 to the Gare du Nord, Châtelet-Les Halles, St-Michel and Denfert-Rochereau, where there are métro stations and the journey time is approximately 30-45 minutes. Tickets are priced at €7.75.

Road

Two bus services, SNCF bus de nuit (telephone number: (08) 1002 0202), run from the airport into the city centre when the train line finishes. One service takes passengers to Gare du Nord and Châtelet, the other to Gare du Nord, Châtelet, Gare de Lyon and Gare d’Austerlitz with journey time approximately 45-60 minutes.

The Roissybus service operated by RAPT (telephone number: (08) 9268 7714) departs from the 3 terminals to rue Scribe, métro Opéra journey time is approximately 60 minutes. The service operates daily 0600 hrs -2300 hrs and cost €8.30. RAPT bus services 350 to Gare de l’Est and 351 to Nation also serve Terminals 1 and 2 (cost €1.40).

Air France coaches (telephone number: (08) 9235 0820) depart every 15 minutes from CDG 1 and CDG 2 and running daily 0550 hrs - 2300 hrs to Place Charles de Gaulle with a journey time of approximately 40 minutes, a ticket costs €10. Buses also depart every 30 minutes daily 0700 hrs -2100 hrs to Paris-Montparnasse, rue du Commandant Mouchotte, Gare de Lyon and boulevard Diderot with a journey time of approximately 50 minutes) a ticket costs €11.50.

The Blue Shuttle (telephone number: (01) 3011 1300, fax number: (01) 3011 1309, e-mail: thebluevans@wanadoo.fr is a door-to-door airport minibus service that is often cheaper than a taxi. Places must be reserved at least 2 days in advance with a journey time of approximately 75 minutes. Ticket prices vary according to the number of passengers and the time of the booking, the cheapest rate is €14.50 return per person, which is only available if booked at least 3 weeks ahead. The lowest fare available for a single passenger is €22 return.

Taxi

A taxi to the city centre costs approximately €38-€43 the journey time is 45-60 minutes.
