We left Cadiz on a mad dash to the bus station to go to Algeciras...we wanted to base ourselves there to visit both Gibraltar and Tangers in Morocco.
We found a hostel (Bargain €10, hostal Gomez) threw our rucs into the room and went to find the bus to Gibraltar...after much toing and froing we finally found the stop. The bus was €1.60 for the 45 min journey. We were so worried that we´d miss our stop, we shouldn't have bothered you can´t miss the ROCK of Gibraltar! WOW! What a sight...its pretty amazing!
We walked across the boarder, showing our passports to immigration, then got onto the red hoppa bus...for €3 you can hop on and off all day (NOT WORTH IT!) Dont get this bus just walk into the centre...its a waste of money!
On the way into Gib the road is also a runway for aircraft...its an amazing sight! We were sitting on the bus wondering why the lights were taking so long to change and the next thing a plane landed next to us!
Gibraltar has red post boxes, double decker buses, bobbies on the beat, uses sterling and has fish and chips everywhere. It has the cheapest duty free i´ve ever seen.... one litre bottle of smirnoff 4.50 sterling and cigs so cheap... Annie and i looked at each other and thought, be sensible we´ve got to carry it!....so sadly we didn't bother!
We had a great day here, the weather was lovely and the place is good to visit...well worth the trip!
We didn't get up the rock on the cable car because of the cost...just too expensive for our budget... no apes to be seen!
We caught the bus home again, so exhausted we fell asleep and were woke up by the driver at the last stop, thankfully ours!
