Golf
Guernsey has 2 18-hole golf courses and one 9-hole course. The 18-hole
course at La Grand De Mare was designed by Fred
Hawtree and is suitable for beginners and intermediate players.
Visitors wishing to play must have a their handicap certificate
from a recognised club.
Guernsey’s second 18-hole course is at the Royal Guernsey/L’Ancresse
Golf Club in the north and a current handicap
certificate from a recognised club is required. St
Pierre Park’s 9-hole course is good for putting practice
and a handicap is not required.
Watersports
Guernsey’s location and mild climate provide great opportunities
for beach holidays and water sports, particularly swimming
and sailing. Some of the best beaches include:
l’Ancresse, Cobo, Petit Bôt and Vazon
Bay. Fishing tours on chartered
boats are also available in Guernsey. Diving
excursions and courses are offered by the Guernsey School
of Diving/Sarnia Skin Divers (telephone number: (01481)

Other
Due to its small size, cycling holidays
are very popular in Guernsey. Excursions to the neighbouring islands
of Herm and Sark as well as to
France are possible via frequent ferry links. Walking
tours can be organised throughout the Channel Islands,
with trails along the cliffs providing dramatic scenery and beautiful
views. Contact the Guernsey Tourist Board for details (see above
or below). |
