Hotel Samudra,
Kerala Tourism Development Corporation is moderately priced. Kovalam
Beach gets crowded during the peak tourist season (November through
March).
Chennai Region
Fisherman’s
Cove at Covelong beach resort
Beachfront cottages by the shore temples at Mamallapuram (which
also has a beach resort).
Puri
3 and 4-star hotels, tourist bungalows, youth hostels. Main Hindu
pilgrim centre.
Lesser-Known
Beachs
These include:
Gujarat: Chorwad,
Daman (UT), Diu (UT), Hajira, Tithal, Ubhrat, Dahanu and Dwarka. Reasonably priced hotels and holiday residences.
Maharashtra: Off Mumbai – Madh, Manori and Marve. Low-priced
hotels – Murud Janjira. Holiday residences– Erangal.
Goa:
Ankola, Bhatkal, Gokarna, Honnavar and Karwar.
Karnataka: Mahe (UT), Mangalore, Udupi (Hindu pilgrim centre) and Ullal (smaller beach resort, summer sands, cottages).
Kerala: Cannanore,
Quilon, Varkala.
Tamil Nadu: Kanya Kumari, Karikal (UT),
Pondicherry (UT), Rameswaram and Tiruchendur.
Andhra Pradesh: Bheemunipatnam, Machilipatnam, Maipadu and Mangiripundi.
Orissa:
Golpalpur on Sea, Oberoi Hotel.
West Bengal: Digha – moderately priced hotels,
tourist bungalows.
