Restricted Entry

Nationals of Iran or holders of passports that contain a visa for Israel (either expired or valid) will be denied entry under all circumstances. Women judged to be dressed improperly will also be denied entry.

Passports

A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond stay is required by all.

Visa

Visas are required by all apart from the nationals listed below:

Nationals of Turkey for stays of up to 3 months.
Transit passengers who continue their trip within 12 hours provided they are holding valid onward or return documentation and not leaving the airport. Transit passengers who continue their trip within 48 hours (under the above conditions) can acquire a transit visa on arrival against a fee of US $40, or within 72 hours for US $30.
Nationals of Malaysia and Singapore may obtain a visa on arrival, free of charge, for stays of up to 2 weeks.

Tourist / Business / Pilgrimage - single entry : £61

Tourist / Business / Pilgrimage - double entry : £68

Business - multiple entry (3 months) : £79

Business - multiple entry (6 months) : £90

Business - multiple entry (12 months) : £90

Transit : £61.

Validity

Tourist, Business and Pilgrimage visas are issued for stays of up to 1 month and are valid for 3 months from date of authorisation. Transit visas are valid for 5 days. Applications for renewal or extension should be made to the Iranian Embassy.

Application requirements

A Visitor must have:

A valid passport with a minimum of 2 blank pages to affix visa.
2 application forms
2 passport size photos (women should be photographed wearing the hejab, Islamic head dress)
A self addressed registered delivery envelope (for postal applications)
A proof of fee payment (payable by postal order or banker’s draft to the ‘Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran’, or by direct at Melli Bank plc, 98A Kensington High Street, London W8 4SG, United Kingdom, or by credit card, form to be filled in and sent with application).

A visitor on a Pilgrimage must have:

A valid passport with a minimum of 2 blank pages to affix visa.
2 application forms
2 passport size photos (women should be photographed wearing the hejab, Islamic head dress)
A self addressed registered delivery envelope (for postal applications)
A proof of fee payment (payable by postal order or banker’s draft to the ‘Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran’, or by direct at Melli Bank plc, 98A Kensington High Street, London W8 4SG, United Kingdom, or by credit card, form to be filled in and sent with application).
A letter of introduction signed by the Head of an Islamic Centre.

A visitor on Business must have:

A valid passport with a minimum of 2 blank pages to affix visa.
2 application forms
2 passport size photos (women should be photographed wearing the hejab, Islamic head dress)
A self addressed registered delivery envelope (for postal applications)
A proof of fee payment (payable by postal order or banker’s draft to the ‘Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran’, or by direct at Melli Bank plc, 98A Kensington High Street, London W8 4SG, United Kingdom, or by credit card, form to be filled in and sent with application).
A letter of invitation from the sponsoring company in Iran, authorised and given a reference number by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The applicant should allow 5 working days    before contacting the appropriate Embassy / Consulate with this reference number.

Working days required

A minimum of 4 weeks. A pilgrimage visa may only take 2 weeks to process.

Temporary residence

All visitors wishing to stay for more than 3 months must obtain a residence permit. Application must be made within 8 days of arrival to Police Headquarters or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran.
