Pros: Rome is awesome to explore
Cons: none

After a brutal day of travel, we arrived at one of our most anticipated stops. Before we even had a chance to relax at the campground, our tour leader took us on a walking tour of Rome. Aside from being bombarded by men with roses/postcards/restaurant flyers, the tour was awesome. We saw a lot very fast, but it made the next day easier as we didn't feel a need to go see all the little things again on our own. Rome is awesome to walk through though because everything is quite close.

After a way overpriced and overrated dinner of pasta and pizza in the Piazza Navona, we headed for our campground outside of Rome. Campgrounds here in Italy are something else, they always have a bar, restaurant, shop and pool, and we've been staying in cabins the whole way. When we arrived there were 2 other top deck tours who had started up a Toga party which we didn't take part in as we were super exhausted.

Our day in Rome on our own started out with Vatican City. Our tour leader told us that CNN has been renting an apartment there for 7 years waiting for the pope to die. Isn't that awful? WE started off with the Vatican Museum and Sistine chapel which were of course nothing short of amazing. Though they would never want you to enjoy the roof of the Sistine in comfort - you aren't allowed to sit on the steps or take pictures or videos. With sore necks, we headed to St. Peter's Basilica. Now we've seen tons and tons of churches on our holiday, but this one beat them all hands down. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuge! Suuuuuuuuuuumptuous! Gold and marble and tourists oh my! Just unreal.

From Vatican city we headed to the Colosseum, which is just another one of those things that completely amazes. To think that such a building has been standing almost 2 thousand years blows the mind.
