Geography

Kuwait shares borders with Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

 The landscape is mainly desert plateau with a lower, more fertile coastal belt.

To the south east lies the Persian Gulf, where Kuwait has sovereignty over 9 small islands (the largest is Bubiyan and the most crowded is Failaka).

Government

Kuwait owns a traditional Arab monarchy. It gained full independence from the United Kingdom in 1961.

The Head of State is Jabir Al Ahmad Al Jabir Al Sabah since 1978.

The Head of Government is Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jabir Al Sabah since 2003.

Language

Arabic is the official language, however English is widely understood, particularly in commerce and industry.

Religion

The religion is 95 % Muslim (mostly of the Sunni sect), with Christian and Hindu minorities.
