Persons over the ages
of 17 may import the following goods without incurring customs duty:
200
cigarettes, or 50 cigars, or 250g of tobacco, or a mixture of all
3 weighing no more than 250g 1.125
litres or 40oz of spirits or liqueurs 4.5litres
of wine or beer Goods
to a maximum value of NZ$ 700.
Controlled and prohibited items
Because of the importance of agriculture and horticulture to the
New Zealand economy, certain animal products, fruit, plant material
or foodstuffs that could contain plant or animal pests may not be
allowed into the country. For further information, contact the nearest
Embassy, High Commission or Consulate.
The import of the following items are also prohibited:
Firearms
and weapons (unless a special permit is obtained from the New Zealand
police) Turtle
or tortoise shell jewellery and ornaments ivory
in any form
Medicines using rhinoceros, tiger or musk products
Anything made from the bone of any marine animal Cat
skins or coats Certain
drugs (e.g depressants, tranquillisers, diuretics, sleeping pills,
stimulants, heart drugs) unless covered by a doctor’s prescription. |
