is the official currency in Qatar.

Notes
are in denominations of QAR 500, 100, 50, 10, 5 and 1.
Coins are in denominations of 50, 25, 10, 5 and
1 dirhams, however, only the 50 and 25 coins are in wide circulation,
the rest ceased in the 1970's and smaller denominations are becoming
less common.
The Qatari Riyal is tied to the United States Dollar.
Credit & debit cards
Diners Club, American Express, MasterCard and Visa are widely accepted.

Travellers cheques
These are Widely accepted. To avoid additional
exchange rate charges, travellers are advised to take travellers

Currency restrictions
There are no restrictions on the export or import
of either local or foreign currency. Israeli currency, however,
is forbidden.
Banking hours
Banks are generally open Saturday to Thursday from 7.30 am to 1.30
pm.
