The national sport in Qatar is football. Doha boasts numerous marinas, sub-aqua clubs and sailing facilities as well as several sports clubs which are open to visitors.
There are many camel race tracks, the main 1 is found off the road to Dukhan, but spectators need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to follow the race. The graded track is 18 kilometres (11 miles) long through the desert and sometimes more than 250 camels take part with large money prizes and prestige at stake. Desert expeditions can also be arranged. |
