People may import the following items into Saudi Arabia without incurring customs duty:

600 cigarettes, or 100 cigars, or 500 grams of tobacco

A reasonable amount of cultured pearls for personal use.

A rational quantity of perfume

Note

Duty is imposed on cameras and typewriters, however if these articles are re exported within 90 days the customs charges may be refunded. It is unwise to put film into cameras.

Controlled and prohibited items

The prohibited items include:

Alcohol

Pornography

Firearms

Narcotics

Contraceptives

Natural pearls

All types of palm trees

Religious books (apart from the Qu'ran)

Pork

Live animals and birds

Most foods and items listed as prohibited by the Arab League (a copy is available from the Embassy)
