Scotland’s fastest
growing airport is located 12km or eight miles west of Edinburgh.
Over 100 million Pounds was invested in developing the airport and
was completed in April 2001. Edinburgh International Airport
serves over five million passengers to over 56 destinations worldwide.
There are more than 30 daily flights to London’s five airports,
with regular flights to other major cities in the UK and overseas.
Direct transatlantic links are available from Glasgow International
Airport, about one hour from Edinburgh. Time

Scotland has not had its own national airline since the demise of
British Caledonian in 1987. British

directions
The airport is located off the A8 from the centre of Edinburgh.
The airport access road turns north off the A8 between the Gogar
and Newbridge roundabouts. Car
parking
The short-term car park is directly in front of
the terminal building. Car Park 3, on Almond Road, with 400 short-stay
spaces provides additional short-stay car parking. The long-term
car park is close by, with a free courtesy coach to the
terminal. Discounts are available for pre-booked long-term parking
(telephone: (0)870 000 1000), which can also be done online via
the airport’s website. Car
rental Alamo, Avis,
Europcar, Hertz and National,
all have desks located in the Domestic Arrivals hall.
Public Transport Taxi
Taxis are available from the rank in front of the terminal or by
calling Airport Taxis (telephone: (0131) 344 3344). A trip to the
city centre (journey time about 20 minutes) costs approximately
£20. Taxis are also available from Skycabs
(telephone: (0)131 333 2220), departing from outside Domestic Arrivals.
Bus
Bus services run from the bus station outside Domestic Arrivals
to the central Edinburgh bus terminus at Waverley Bridge, also stopping
at Edinburgh Haymarket rail station. The express service (bus no.100)
operates daily 24 hours. Bus no.35 operates from Ocean Terminal
via the city centre to Edinburgh Airport.

Coffee shops throughout the airport and there are two bars and a
food village.

Bmi, British Airways, Scotways and Servisair have executive lounges
equipped with telephone, fax and Internet. The Hilton Edinburgh
Airport Hotel (telephone: (0)131 519 4400) has conference facilities
for up to 220 people. Disabled
facilities
Facilities for disabled people include toilets, ramps, lifts and
reserved seating. Reserved parking and wheelchairs and help with
baggage are available. Assistance can also be pre-booked (telephone:

519 4400) is a short walk and is also connected by a free shuttle
service. Note Edinburgh City Centre is only twenty minutes by taxi
ride, so it may be worth considering Edinburgh
