Airport
The airport is located 12km (seven miles) southwest of the city
centre and has three terminals, A, B
and C.
There are daily direct flights between Barcelona and more than 30
international destinations, several further destinations are served
by less frequent direct flights. In 1998, the airport was voted
Europe’s best. The airport had 21 million passengers passing
through in 2002, compared with just ten million in 1992, the year
of the Barcelona Olympics. A third runway and a new offloading area
have been planned to be open for 2006, to cater for the increasing
volume of air traffic.

Transfer between terminals
Passengers can walk through a walkway, which connects the
three terminals.
Major airlines
Foreign airlines mostly use terminal A. International flights run
by Iberia (IB),
the national airline, usually use terminal B. Information on Iberia

Other major domestic and international carriers include Air
France, American Airlines, BMI Baby, British Airways, Continental

Airport facilities Money and communications
Banks, bureaux de change and ATMs can be found in Terminals
A and B. There is also a post office on the ground floor of Terminal
B. Eating and drinking
There are restaurants, bars and cafeterias in all terminals.
Shopping
Duty-free shopping is available in Terminals A
and B, there are also a range of other shops in
these two terminals which includes a jewellers, bookshop, tobacconists,
newsagents, music shop and shoe shop. Luggage
A left-luggage office is situated in the Terminal B Arrivals area.
A lost property office is situated in the Bloque Técnico
building (telephone number: 932 983 349). Other
facilities
There is a pharmacy, a 24-hour medical service, travel agents and
tour operators and children’s play areas. Information

Tourist information desks (telephone number: (0)934 784 704 or 780
565) are located in Terminals A and B,
there is also a hotel information point in Terminal B. Airport information
desks can be found throughout the airport, at six locations in Terminals
A and B. Disabled
Facilities
The airport has lifts, ramps and escalators. Reserved parking spaces
are also available for disabled travellers in the airport car park.
Disabled toilets are located throughout the airport and there are
also adapted-telephones at wheelchair height in each terminal.
Business facilities
Terminal B has a dedicated meeting room, the Sala
Europa, which can be hired (telephone number: (0)932 983
815). Facilities include telephone, fax, Internet and audiovisual
equipment. During 2004, two similar facilities will open on the
first floor of Terminal B. VIP lounges are available in Departures
(after security) in all three terminals. Car
Parking
There are public car parks at the airport with space for nearly
13,000 cars. Car parks are located directly in front of each terminal.
Terminal A and C are directly
connected to the car parks via air-bridges. VIP parking in a secure
car park, with collection outside each of the terminals, is also
available (telephone number: 932 971 381). Driving
Instructions
From Barcelona city centre, take the Barcelona ring road, with the
airport exit via the Pata Sur. The airport access road is the Barcelona-Castelldefels
C-31 motorway, which connects with the Barcelona-Stiges C-32 motorway.
Transport to the city
Rail
There are train services from the airport to the city centre, on
the RENFE Mataró line. All trains stop at
Sants-Estaçio, Plaça Catalunya, Arc de Triomf
and Clot-Aragó, all of which connect with
the metro. The RENFE Cercanías station is connected to the
passenger terminal via a travelator, which is situated in front
of the terminal building between Terminals A and
B. Road Taxi
Taxi ranks are located outside the terminals approximate journey
time into Barcelona City Centre is 25 minutes. Bus
There is an Aerobus (A1) service to Plaça de Catalunya,
departing from in front of all terminals.
Bus no.105 departs from Terminals B and C, to El Prat, bus no.106
also departs from Terminals B and C. Car
Hire Avis, National Atesa, Europcar
and Hertz are all represented at the airport, with
offices located on the ground floor of Terminals B and C.

There are no hotels on site. The nearest hotels to the airport are
Hotel Ciutat del Prat (telephone number: 933 788 333), Hotel Tryp
Barcelona Airport (telephone number: 933 781 000) and the Best Western
Hotel Alfa Airport (telephone number: 933 362 564). Hotels can be
booked at the hotel information desk in Terminal B. |
