The Alps cause alot of climatic variations throughout the country. In the higher Alpine regions temperatures are low, while the lower land of the northern area has higher temperatures and warm summers.
Outside of mid August to late October, when the weather is settled, Geneva's alpine climate can vary tremendously. July brings hot weather, January extremely cold weather and September plentiful rain.
