The walls at this elegant, pleasant restaurant were panelled with dark wood and
the floor is well tiled. They serve up French food at tables covered with crisp white tablecloths and stylish crockery.
The great service and their superb seafood, such
as Maine lobster roasted in its shell with sautéed
girolle mushrooms, make Auberge DAB a very special place. There is also a
good-value three-course set lunch available for B340.
Baan Khanitha is situated just off Sukhumvit Road. This place has won the Bangkok
Dining and Entertainment Award for ‘Best Thai
Restaurant’ for the past 6 years and its popularity
is proof. The Thai style converted villa is stylishly and typically
designed with antiques and
artworks creating a tranquil atmosphere. The art of food presentation
is as stylish as its design. A popular
dish here is deep-fried freshwater sun-dried cotton fish
served with mango sauce. A set menu for 2 people ranges
from B800 to B1,000.
It is one of the places with genuine welcome,
elegant decor and superb food. This intimate
stylish restaurant is located just off Sukhumvit Road, provides French
haute cuisine, as well as the wonderful lightly roasted
breast of duck served with a sauce from the juice of
the duck. No lunch is provided.
This cosy, comfortable restaurant provides what has to be
the best French food in Bangkok, if not in the region.
Set in the original section of The Oriental Hotel,
the floor-to-ceiling windows at Le Normandie overlook the panoramic Chao Phraya River. The menu is extensive and an
excellent pick is the truffle-coated breast of pigeon
and duck liver with truffled leek. There is a 3-course
lunch for B1,250 per person and a set dinner menu at
B3,800. No lunch is provided on Sundays.
The Rang Mahal is located on the rooftop of the Rembrandt Hotel (see Hotels),
overlooking the city, and it serves up gourmet Indian
food. The restaurant is sumptuously decorated with Indian wall hangings
and plush colours. Indian music plays inconspicuously
in the background. Food here is great, and a particularly
fine dish is murgh makhanwala, chicken simmered in creamy
fenugreek-flavoured tomato gravy. Sunday brunch is very
popular for B510 per person.
