This restaurant is about as strange as its name since a wide variety of condoms of all shapes, sizes and colours
and a tableau of vasectomy equipment are on show here.
It goes from strength to strength and combines
its work to improve life for rural Thailand through
contraception, hygiene programmes and AIDS education
with great Thai cuisine. Situated just off the lively Sukhumvit
Road, it is a very restful place with a lush garden
and
tasty
food, and the addition of a deserving
cause make it an ideal place to visit. A very delicious dish
is the hot and sour salad of Shanghai noodle with shrimp
and chicken. |

| Ma
Be Ba |
Price: B1,000. Wine: B1,000 |
|
The Ma Be Ba is an ideal place to escape from the hot, steamy streets and
it feels like it could be Italy. The smell of the bakery
and the tiled mosaic floor, plants and an open kitchen
are
wonderfully evocative of southern Italy. It has a friendly atmosphere and is popular among ex-pats as well as local people.
A set lunch for 3 courses is available at B329.
Seafood is a speciality, such as the pan-fried crispy
seabass filet. |

Senor Pico |
Price: B650. Wine: B1,190 |
|
The Senor Poco is one of
the best Mexican restaurants in the city, situated in the Rembrandt Hotel (see Hotels). It is built in a cantina style, and decorated with terra cotta pots, Mexican bric-a-brac
around the walls and low lighting. A resident band adds
to the lively atmosphere. The subtle
mixture
of spices
is evident in the charcoal-grilled prawns marinated
in lime juice and herbs. Combination meals of chicken
enchiladas and beef fajitas with refried beans and rice
are a good value at B380. Lunch is not available. |
