The
Big Buddha
The Big Buddha is 15 metres tall and was constructed
in 1972 by the locals to give tourists a place to pay respect
to The Lord Buddha. The Big Buddha Temple is
Samui's most popular attraction, located on northern shore of the island.
Namuang Waterfall
10 kilometres south from Nathon
at Ban Thurian lie the 2 waterfalls. Na Muang 1 is 18 metres
high and is accessible by vehicle while Na Muang 2 is 80 metres
high and is accessible by a 30 minute walk.
Hin Ta - Hin Yai
Strange uniquely shaped rocks in south Lamai.
It is said that an old couple whose ship was wrecked in the bay
and their bodies were washed ashore to create the rocks.
Sawadee Shrine
Situated at the IT Complex, Lamai, the Brahma of Sawadee is considered a central
image for
great respect and admiration and faith.
The number of tourists increases every day since people have
faith in their greatness extending out kindness and mercifulness
and thus creating happiness and peacefulness to those who come to pay respect.
Hin Lad Waterfall
2 kilometres south of Nathon Town, Hin Lad Waterfall is accessible by a 3 to 4 km walk through a rain forest covering
with palms and creepers. It has several levels with
a pool for a fresh water swim.
Magic Buddha Garden
Hidden in the hills, the magic Buddha garden is home to several statues, temples and waterfalls which
were built by a man 20 years ago.
Ancient House
Constructed around 150 years ago using all teakwood without any nails at Ban Thale, this Samui's oldest house
was made of teak planks and includes many beautiful woodcarvings.
Butterfly Garden
At the foot of
the hill south of Samui lies Na Tian Butterfly Garden. Not only the many species of butterflies
are on show, but also other
fascinating
features in the garden as well as the bee house, a Thai style house where visitors can observe bees' activities; and the
insect museum where there rare insects from Thailand and other countries
on display.
Snake Farm
The snake farm is worth seeing for those who visit Samui. Shows featuring snakes indigenous to the island including Centipedes, Scorpions and Cock
Fighting shows. It is great
for the whole family. To get there just follow the signs
throughout the island. Shows are available at 11.00 am and 2.00 pm daily. |
