Golf
Dubai has been named the number one golf destination worldwide by
the International Golf Tour Operators Association.
The Emirates Golf Club in Dubai was the first grass
golf course in the Gulf. There is also the Abu Dhabi Golf
Club whose facilities include two 18-hole grass courses
and a floodlit driving range, the Dubai Creek Golf Club
and the Nad Al Shiba Golf and Racing Club.
Water sports
Boats and water-skiing are available for hire. Sailing
and windsurfing are popular around Dubai. The waters off
Dubai are considered among the best areas in the world for scuba
diving. There are dive shops in main centers and a wide range
of equipment is available for hire. Swimming is available
in the many hotel pools or beaches. There is plenty of game fish
and fully equipped boats with crew can be hired from the Jebel Ali
Hotel marina for deep-sea fishing trips.
Spectator sports
Boat racing is a traditional sport that is increasingly popular.
Horse and Camel are held at various racetracks. Football
is popular and can be seen in most large towns and there are three
rugby clubs in Dubai. Falconry is very popular among
Arabs. Other sports and activities
Horse riding is available at several riding centers.
Rides through the desert are organized regularly. The larger hotels
and clubs have tennis courts and squash courts are
available for play in the main centers. Some hotels and clubs have
