Notes are
in denominations of VUV 200, 500, 1000, and 5000.
Coins
are in denominations of VUV 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1.
Australian Dollars are also accepted in some restaurants and shops.
Currency exchange
Exchange facilities are available at trade banks
and the airport. It is recommended to exchange
foreign currency after arriving in Vanuatu. Australian Dollars are
accepted by several shops, restaurants and hotels in Port - Vila,
but rarely outside major towns. There are ATM's at the ANZ Bank
and supermarket.
Credit &
debit cards
MasterCard and Visa are quite largely accepted, American Express
and Diners Club less so. Please check with your credit or debit
card company for details of merchant acceptability and other services
which may be available.
Travellers
cheques
Travellers cheques are hugely accepted.

Currency restrictions
There are no restrictions on the import or export
of either foreign or local currency.
Banking
hours
Banks are generally open
from Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm, except Westpac Bank,
which the hours are Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 4.00 pm.
Bureaux de change are open Monday to Friday 8.00
am to 5.30 pm / 6.00 pm, Saturday to Sunday 8.30 am to 4.00 pm.
