Air
The national airline of Vietnam is Vietnam
Airlines (VN). The most common routes to Vietnam are from Bangkok,
Hong Kong, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Paris, and Taipei. Most
Asian carriers have flights to Vietnam, as do Qantas and Air France.
Approximate flight times
From Hanoi to London is around 17 hours,
with a 2 hour layover in Bangkok. International
airports
Located at Noi Bai, Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) is
45 kilometres or 28 miles north of Hanoi. Metered taxis
and busses are available. There are basic facilities at the airport.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN)
is located 7 kilometres or 4.5 miles from Ho Chi Minh City. There are buses and metered
taxis available at this airport. Departure
tax
US$12 (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh
City) and US$8 (Da Nang), payable in New Vietnam
Dông or US Dollars. Sea
Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Haiphong, Da Nang and Binh Thuy are the main ports where international cruise
services are provided. Rail
It is
practicable
to enter China by train from Lao Cai to Kunming
in the Yunnan province of China or through Lang Son to Nanning.
Trains also run from Beijing-Dong Dang-Hanoi and back 2 times a week.
Road
There are roads to Guangxi, China through Lang Son,
Cambodia through Moc Bai and to
Laos at Lao Bao and Cau Trieu.
