There are Internet centres and cafes in most urban areas. Internet Service Providers include AOL, BT Internet and Freeserve. Some multimedia phone booths, often located at railway stations and airports, offer touch-screen access.


Stamps can be purchased from post offices and many shops and stores. There are stamp machines outside many post offices. Post boxes are red. First-class internal mail usually reaches its destination the day after posting (except in the remote areas of Scotland), and second-class mail the day after that. International postal connections are also good. Post office hours: Monday-Friday 09:00-17:30 hours and Saturday 09:00-12:30 hours, some post offices are open much longer hours.


UK circulation figures are amongst the highest in the world with about 10 major newspapers. The more influential newspapers are The Daily Telegraph, The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Independent, The Observer (on Sunday) and The Times. The popular 'tabloid' newspapers are The Daily Express, The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror and The Sun. Most papers have an Sunday newspaper, though there are some independents. There are daily regional newspapers, particularly in Scotland and the north.


BBC World Service and Voice of America radio stations can be received. From time to time the frequencies do change and up-to-date info can be found online.
