Air
All travel to the area around Saada in northern Yemen is recommended
against, primarily due to heavy fighting that has
occurred there since June 20 2004.
The Yemen Tourist Police are discouraging individual travel
outside Sana’a and necessitate all such travellers to apply
for permission. There is still considered to be a continuing high
threat from terrorism and that, in particular, international terrorists
are aiming at western, including British, interests in Yemen.
The Republic of Yemen’s national airline is Yemen
Airways (Yemenia) (IY). Approximate

It takes 9 hours traveling from London to Aden not including the

Sana’a
International airport
Sana’a (SAH) (El-Rahaba) is 13 kilometres (8 miles) north
of the city (the travel time is 30 minutes). Transfer to the city
centre is by taxi. Airport facilities
Airport facilities include include a duty free shop, bank / bureau
de change, baggage facilities and restaurants, as well as car hire.
Taiz International airport
Taiz (TAI) (al-Janad) is 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) from the city
(the travel time is 10 minutes). Airport

Taxis, buses and car rental are available. Hodaidah
International airport
Hodaidah (HOD) is 8 kilometres (5 miles) from the city.

International airport
Aden (ADE) (Khormaksar) is 11 kilometres (7 miles) from the city
(the travel time is 20 minutes). Airport

A limited bus and taxi service is available. Departure
Tax : There is no Departure Tax.
Sea
The main international ports are Hodaidah, Aden,
Mokha, Mukalla and Nashton. Cargo vessels with passenger berths
pay a visit to Hodeida. Road
Driving to Yemen is not recommended, however there
are routes from Jeddah, Mecca and Riyadh (in Saudi Arabia) to Sana’a. |
